Thoughts, Prayers, and Action

No More Weapons of War

Clergy and lay faith leaders from over a dozen congregations across Maine are responding in prayer to October’s mass shooting in Lewiston — the deadliest in the USA this year.

We appeal to the humanity of the Bass Pro Shops’ leadership to end:

  • the sale of AR-15-style assault rifles,
  • the sale of high-capacity magazine clips, and
  • firearm sales to people as young as 18.

Cabela’s (owned by Bass Pro Shops) can save lives by following in the footsteps of Dick’s Sporting Goods, Walmart, and Kroger, which all stopped selling AR-15-style assault rifles in the wake of mass shootings. Firearms are the leading cause of death for children and teens in the USA. Raising the minimum age for the sales of firearms will save hundreds of lives.

Tell Cabela’s to stop profiting from weapons designed for mass murder!
